Janner Rallye - excellent job

Michal Solowow and Maciek Baran (Ford Fiesta S2000) finished on 8th position in Janner Rallye (Austria) - the first round of the European Rally Championship 2012. The Cersanit Rally Team scored 9 points to the ERC standings.

During the second day, Michal and Maciek showed an oustanding performance. The Polish crew twice finished second just behind the winner of the rally Jan Kopeckim (Skoda Fabia S2000). They won twice the fourth position and  two stages finished in fifth place. Due to the excellent ride they were first climbed to the 10-th place overall and finally finished the rally on the 8th position. The winner of the event was Czech Jan Kopecky (Skoda Fabia S2000), who overtook Finn Juho Hanninen (Skoda Fabia S2000) and the Austrian Harrah Beppo (Mitsubishi Lancer Exo IX).

- Nice rally, a lot has happened. We have not been rallying in such difficult conditions for long. But on those snowy sections we showed quite good ride so we cannot complain about the snow. There were many  extremely slippery sections so it was necessary to ride on the right track, patiently searching for grip on every piece of road. Perfect competition, as evidenced by the fact that the leading drivers committed few mistakes in such extreme conditions. I think we have done a good job, because we "jumped" from 72 to 8th place. And we scored nine points for the European Championships although yesterday it seemed we would win nothing. So we can be happy - said Michal Solowow.

- After yesterday's incident and getting such a great loss we should have been disappointed. But the good times on the first loop added a lot of stamina and power to our performance. We won some  stages with Kopecki, Hanninen and Vaclav Pech and scored position in the top 10, so there are reasons for joy.   It was excellent fight and superb ride in these terribly difficult conditions. The car performed perfect. I am very pleased that we have got a good beginning of the new season - Maciek Baran added.

According to the rules in 2012 season in ERC, all drivers will earn points from place 1 to 10 in the rally in general classification.  All crews compete for points both for each day and for a place in the overall standings. So Kopecky won 35 points, Hanninen - 26 points, and Michal Solowow 9 points.
