A rally driver from the very beginning -in the age of 17 he started in KJS (contests for rally rookies) and he performed quite well. Unfortunately, he could not afford buying the professional rally car those days. However, the fascination remained and in 2000 he purchased a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI and he started as in a "tourist" class in the Zubry Rally (Rajd Żubrów). He began serious rallying in the 2001 season, starting in PZM Cup - the competition league for the Rally Championship of Poland. During following years he earned experience by perfecting his rally driving technique in rallies in Poland and abroad. Since 2003 Michal has been made the very fortunate tandem with the experienced co-driver Maciek Baran from Krakow.
Since the very origins of the Cersanit Rally Team Michał has been always involved in the organization team, the service and technical development of cars which he uses in rallies. All this has been reflected in subsequent successes of Cersanit Rally Team - in 2004 Michal celebrated his victory in the Warszawski Rally, in 2005 and 2006 he was the best at the Rzeszowski Rally. He succeeded as 2nd Vice-Champion in the Polish Rally Championship (RSMP) in 2004 and 2005. In 2006 he won Vice-Champion title in RSMP and finished 3-rd in the European Rally Championship (ERC). In 2008 and 2009 Michal Solowow won the title of Vice-Champion of Europe in the European Rally Championship. In 2010 he collected also a Vice-Champion title in the Polish Rally Championship (RSMP)..
